Since the late 1800’s, Princeton University’s Class Reunions has been one of the biggest gatherings in the country! This year’s celebration was the first in-person Reunions since the pandemic, with over 30,000 attendees from around the world.
Until 2022, each year’s Reunions used typical plastic cups. This year, Princeton decided to #tradeUP and partner with Earth Cups to bring greener cups to campus. Indeed, Princeton University showcased their sustainability efforts by using class-specific customized Earth cups for their weekend-long Reunions in May. Alumni enjoyed drinking out of their orange-and-black Earth Cups (Princeton’s colors), and Earth Brands worked alongside the university to ensure the proper collection and disposal of the cups. There were Earth Cups “bins” set up all over Princeton’s campus for the 3-day event, which student EcoReps and Reunions Crew members helped collect and Earth Brands brought to nearby composting facilities, ensuring that Princeton’s campus would remain litter-free!Princeton made the switch to green (or, in their case, orange) cups, and have set a great example for other colleges and universities to consider their plastic waste and environmental impact going forward.
